Recent Photo Shoot

We are currently working on a Biometrics brochure that will help show new potential customers some of the innovative work we are doing in the area of Electronic Security Systems. The photos below are a few from the photo shoot.

Finger prints being taken as a four-fingle slap. Photo shot with a Nikon D700, 70-200mm F2.8 VR lens @ F5.6 1/125th
This second photo I'm quite happy with. I forgot how difficult it was to take macro shots of an eye without catching unwanted reflections. We changed the color of the eye to match the green motif from the scanners. Thanks Amie!

Student Films

As promised, here are a couple films that I worked on while studying at Ryerson in Toronto, Canada.

This is my Cinematography demo reel which is a compilation of some of my best work. Most of it was shot on Super 16mm with some on Super 35mm:

This film is a short documentary on my old roommate Paul Hubble. It is a character piece describing his unusual perspective on life in the city. This was shot on 16mm Kodak Double-X B&W film stock:

Recent Work

I've added a link to my YouTube channel on the right where some of my more recent video projects can be found.

Here is a link to my companies website, where there are some more video projects http://geo.mcdean.com/multimedia. The video below is a Promotional Video for the Creative Services group I work in. We shot this last summer:

And here is a video from one of my more recent projects:

Some of my photos have also been posted here http://geo.mcdean.com/photos.

I will post some of my older student projects as well as some of my more recent photos tomorrow.

Who I am.

Hello and welcome to my personal blog. Between my Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as my work being occasionally posted on the Internet, I suppose I have felt that the Internet does not need any more of my thoughts and so, I have never started my own blog. That is, until now.

This blog is for my Introduction to E-Commerce course at Boston University. This is my first class towards my MS in International Marketing Management. In fact, this is my first assignment for my first class.

On to the title of this blog post. Who I am. I was born in Huntsville, Canada a mere 26 years ago. My Mother is a dual citizen of Canada and the United States, and so, at the age of 16, I naturalized to claim my American citizenship as well. After much debate between studying CompSci and Film, I choose my heart over my head and moved to Toronto, Canada, where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ryerson University. I worked in photo labs since I was 16 and eagerly made Photography an unofficial minor at Ryerson as well, learning how similar cinematography and photography really are.

In 2004 I met my wife, who was a live-in nanny for a missionary couple who were living in Toronto for cultural training. She is from Stuttgart, Germany. Once I graduated in 2006 I moved to Stuttgart and have been here ever since.

Shortly after arriving here, I found a job with M.C. Dean, Inc., a US based design-build engineering firm that does work for the US Department of Defense within Europe and Africa. I helped set up a Creative Services department within M.C. Dean and work as the Sr. Multimedia Specialist on that team. We are a team of 10 consisting of Videographers, Photographers, Graphic Designers and Technical Writers. My job allows me to document our engineering projects we undertake and travel quite a bit to some very unique places.

I will post some of my photos and videos within the near future, as well as links to some of my work for M.C. Dean.
